The Stars are Not: Put Out Every One; is reflected from Goya’s The Disasters of War, Plate 80. Plate 80: Si resucitará? (Will she live again?) The figure is "Truth.” A woman is shown lying on her back, bathed in a halo of light before a gathering mob of hooded monks, while a masked figure beats the ground with a weapon.
The Stars are Not: Put Out Every One; the mob is quiet, lost confused and stuck while trying to mourn. With generational grief from several unacknowledged genocides and oppression, I wonder if a mutual narrative will be found and mourned. Or if “Truth” will continue to be suppressed.
Mixed Media Collage printed on Hahnemuhle's William Turner paper and mounted to wood canvas. Shipping included in price.
