A Bold Leaper illustrates the last need for mourning well: a development of a new self-identity. After an open search for new meaning after a loss or death, to reconcile grief and mourning one must be bold by incorporating change and self-reflection into a new pattern of living. At this point in the process, I thought about the phoenix and one of the boldest events I could think of. In protest to the persecution of Buddhists by the South Vietnamese government, Thich Quang Duc lit himself on fire.
